Pop superstar Miley Cyrus recently revealed a harrowing health emergency that nearly led her to abandon the music industry entirely. The 32-year-old singer-actress disclosed that she suffered a severely painful ovarian cyst rupture during a live performance on New Year's Eve in 2023. This traumatic incident profoundly shook her, pushing her to the brink of an unimaginable decision.

The medical crisis unfolded as Cyrus was co-hosting NBC’s Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, sharing the stage with legendary country artist Dolly Parton, and joined by guests like Paris Hilton and Sia.

Speaking on The Zane Lowe Show, Cyrus recounted the terrifying ordeal: "I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels]. I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture."

Despite the excruciating pain, Cyrus heroically chose to push through the performance. "It was extremely excruciating, and I did the show anyway,” she shared. “But it was really, really hard on me." This intense physical and emotional toll was so profound that, for a time, she seriously contemplated stepping away from music for good.

It was a pivotal dinner with Lorne Michaels that provided the turning point. Cyrus recalled his impactful advice: “Six months—everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves, and then we start to rebuild. You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music.

Everyone does this.” This candid conversation proved to be the tough love Miley needed, helping her realize that walking away from her passion was never truly an option. “What I’ve always realised is that it will quit me before I ever quit it,” she asserted. “That’s just not in the cards for me.”

Now, empowered and resilient, Miley Cyrus is back in the studio, deeply immersed in her next highly anticipated project, an album tentatively titled Something Beautiful. This new work will feature exciting collaborations with artists like Brittany Howard and Naomi Campbell.

The upcoming album follows the massive success of her 2023 release, Endless Summer Vacation, which featured the global sensation "Flowers." That chart-topping hit not only dominated airwaves worldwide but also secured Cyrus her first-ever Grammy Award, marking a powerful testament to her unwavering spirit and talent.
