Duck Dynasty Patriarch Phil Robertson Dies at 79 After Alzheimer’s Battle

Phil Robertson, the beloved patriarch of the Robertson family and star of A&E’s hit reality series Duck Dynasty, has passed away at the age of 79. His family announced his death on Sunday, months after revealing his diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease in late 2024.

Family’s Heartfelt Tributes

In a statement shared on social media, Phil’s daughter-in-law Korie Robertson expressed,

“We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord. He reminded us often of the words of Paul, ‘you do not grieve like those who have no hope.

 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.’”

She added that the family is currently holding a private service, with plans to announce a public celebration of Phil’s life soon. 

The Robertsons thanked fans for their love and prayers, noting how many lives Phil touched through his unwavering faith and dedication to sharing the Christian message.

Phil’s son Jase Robertson also paid tribute, writing,

“My dad has gone to be with the Lord today! He will be missed, but we know he is in good hands, and our family is good because God is very good! We will see him again!”

Health Struggles in His Final Year

Phil Robertson’s health had been declining rapidly, as revealed by his family in recent months. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in December 2024, Phil also battled a blood disorder that caused additional complications.

 His son Jase shared on the family’s podcast that Phil was “not doing well” and “really struggling,” and the family’s focus was on making him as comfortable as possible during his final days.

Phil Robertson rose to fame as the founder of Duck Commander, turning his passion for duck hunting into a successful business and reality TV phenomenon. Duck Dynasty showcased the close-knit Robertson family and their faith-driven lifestyle, captivating millions of viewers from 2012 to 2017.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha “Miss Kay” Carroway; sons Alan, Jase, Willie, and Jep; daughter Phyllis; brother Silas; and numerous grandchildren.
