The speculation began when fans noticed Cyrus wearing a gold lamé Saint Laurent gown in the video, similar to the gold dress Lawrence wore at The Hunger Games premiere, where she starred alongside Liam Hemsworth, Cyrus’s ex-husband.

Many believed the outfit was a pointed message about a rumored fling between Lawrence and Hemsworth during his relationship with Cyrus. However, Miley dismissed these claims in a recent video outside Jimmy Kimmel Live!, responding to a fan’s question: “No, but I love that dress of hers.”

Jennifer Lawrence also refuted the rumors. During an interview on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she called the affair allegations “total rumor,” clarifying that she and Liam Hemsworth only shared a kiss years after his breakup with Miley.

Miley and Liam had an on-again, off-again relationship spanning a decade, marrying in 2018 and separating less than a year later. Since their split, both stars have moved on, with Miley focusing on her music and personal growth.

Flowers remains a powerful breakup anthem, but both Miley and Jennifer have made it clear that the rumors linking the song and its visuals to their personal lives are unfounded.
